My first ‘commisioned’ recording done at Millfield, for my good friend Andrew Li. Used that (imo, horrible) Sony mic which has a very harsh sound and narrow sound field. Anyway, recorded the recital, which was Pictures at an Exhibition by Modest Mussorgsky. Excellent playing.
I set up my mic about 2 metres from the piano, roughly the same position as in my own recital done a year later, except not so good mics were used here.
Sound was okay, besides it being harsh and narrow sound field. Wish I could have done a better recording of his playing.
