Time to update

It’s been a while since I last posted here…a lot has happened since then..
Yeah, for some reason I was too lazy to post yesterday, I don’t know why…

Let’s see……what has gone on in this week?

Yeah, yesterday… Woke up and loaded the drumset into the car. Amazingly it managed to fit into the car, but then of course Simon had taken the floor tom the earlier day to ease my burden..=p..

So I got to school and went straight to the hall and unloaded the drums there…and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, did I mention that I waited and waited? Yeah, I waited until Simon turned up at last, carrying the floor tom… Then we waited for someone else to turn up, and then Hock Jeen appeared, so we made him look after the drums while Simon and I went to mark attendance in our respective classes.

Then we went back to the hall, and waited and waited until, finally, the hall was opened.. So I carried the stuff inside the hall (The drum stands are REALLY heavy) and set up the drumset and played for a while, practised my double pedalling, at least it’s getting better now… but I still can’t do doubles non-stop…

At last the whole band turned up and we could start practising… The drumset sounded MUCH better than the previous set, but then, what else do you expect from a RM6000 drumset? Haha. But the echo of the hall was kinda weird, playing 8 beat on the hihat sounded like 16 beats… because of the echo =). Joshua brought his metal sticks, but luckily he didn’t use it on the set, he said it was for practising purposes.

We practised ‘The Young Ones’ and ‘Peng You’, I was playing the drums, and En. Zul and En. Allen were singing… They complained that my drum beat was too difficult to follow (well, I wasn’t doing anything THAT complicated larr) but well….I switched to a straight, boring beat after that. The best I could to do make it more of a challenge was to play the hi hat with my left hand…

Later on the other band practised and we listened… They put in an extra song… At 9.50am it was my rehat time, so I went for prayer meeting (10 girls and one guy, while tuesday was 11girls and 1 guy, guess who that 1 guy was =p)

Shannon came and tuned up the drumset a bit (a BIT) before rehat and then he taught me the traditional grip for drumming… I guess I’m not that traditional, since I had some problems with it…but now I’m ‘slightly’ better at it…

The taekwondo fellas practised throughout rehat right through until 12pm..yeah, it was quite long… I took a nap in the hall =). After that we finally had a chance to practise properly, and in the end we finished at 1.15pm, after school had ended.. then I had to dismantle the drumset…so, long process again, then had to load it into the car (my mom had been waiting for quite a while already) and I reached home the latest I’d ever had on a normal school day, that is, at 1.50pm… ^_^

I slept the rest of the day, and then throughout the thunderstorm also, it was really nice to have rain at last, as it has been so hot of late…

Had orchestra practice later on, hardly anyone came, so it was a ‘skeleton orchestra’…..but we still practised, and it was okay, i think… 😉 I decided not to bring the drumset along, and that was a good choice, because the drummer didn’t come in the end! Or else I’d have to bring it along in the rain and all…

Next morning, same process, load drumset into the car, then unload it at the hall (with one minor difference, that is, the hall was open this time), set up the drumset… The other band brought their drumset because they couldn’t get used to our drumset, but in the end because of problems of moving drumsets fast enough, they just decided to use their snare… anyway I think the way they set up their set was a bit weird, not the usual that I would set it up, if I used their set up I’d have problems hitting the toms…

We couldn’t practise much because they were having perhimpunan outside in the field and we were disturbing them with the noise and all, esp the drums.. Me, joshua and shannon had some fun playing 2 drumsets at the same time… haha competition, who can hit faster..nope we didn’t really do that… because it was too noisy…

The presentations started after rehat… First was the other band then it was our turn… the whole crowd was woooing away at En. Zul and En. Allen. Played Getaran Jiwa first…I liked the ending… the chord progession I made up.. haha.. Then after that we switched instruments, me to the drums, joshua to the bass, and lester to the keyboard and we played ‘The Young Ones’ and ‘Peng You’……..and guess what? halfway through I dropped one of the drumsticks!!! It was like ‘Uh Oh’ but luckily I managed to catch it… Now that I think of it, I should have continued playing with just one drumstick and show off, then throw up the dropped drumstick and when it comes down crash it on the crash…haha, nah, I’d mess up if I did that.. laughing The sound on stage was REALLY deafening, I wouldn’t be suprised if I’ve lost 10% of my hearing by now… Silly PA system..

I didn’t really watch the rest of the performance… Just chatted a bit, watched a bit, and so on… After it was over I helped to carry the cakes from the canteen to the hall for the teachers and then I (at last) managed to grab some drinks.. I was REALLY REALLY thirsty, and it was a real relief to drink something….

After eating I got an offer to send my drums back to my house, so I thought, fine…. So I loaded the drums into one of the teachers vans and she sent me back…and no one was home… I had to climb over the gate to get the ‘secret’ key, and then when I was climbing over I tore my pants and I was impaled by a metal rod sticking up… 5 holes on my leg… praise God that they aren’t deep..

Got the drums into my house then went back to school for Cell… Got 3 hershey’s chocolates tongue which I put in my pocket, which later melted =p…

I was really tired after that so I came home and slept the rest of the day and then got up, took dinner, and then started typing this post…

In other news, I have a 5.1 system (again) on my computer, but this time with a crazy subwoofer…playing 28Hertz is really nice… but too bad anything lower than that doesn’t have any body in the sound..

Guess I’ll call it quits for now, I have loads of orchestra practice tomorrow and then the concert on Sunday itself..

Thanks to all of you guys who have supported me by going for the concert (or I should say, who ARE supporting me)
