The concert…

Uneventful trip to Securities Commision, I decided to bring along the other tom and snare so that the drumset wouldn’t look so lopsided and unbalanced…

THERE WAS NO GRAND PIANO!!! Grrrrrrr….arrrgh…asdfjkl;
Last time we performed in securities commision there was one, but today there was only an upright piano there.. Irritating man, the top kept blocking my view of the conductor and of course, it didn’t sound as nice… It sounded a bit underused and the keys were way too light, and I couldn’t differ the touch and sound much…but, there was no way to get a grand piano there, obviously…

Carrying the drums from the car to the auditorium was something of a minute nightmare… but thanks to my mom, I got it there safe and sound…
In the end I set up the drumset the reverse of the normal (floor tom on left, snare on right) because the drummer was used to it…

Had sound check, there was a lot of stuff to adjust, like, can’t hear the marimba, move further front, the winds sound choked, everyone move in front, blah blah blah…

Then orchestra 2 had their sound check…and suddenly, I was forced to play the drums for them…well, since it was quite easy I accepted that. So, just simply go bang bang bang on the drums lah..was okay…..

Then Ann the boss cornered me and told me that I had to make a speech after the concert and I was like, WHAT?! No practising!!

The 3pm concert was okay, orchestra 2 was a bit shaky, rushed a bit here and there and at some parts were out of tune, but they did a REALLY GREAT job, for their age. (They are aged around 6-10, most of them). They were quite cute… Then it was our turn, had loads of fun playing… I almost never stopped looking at the conductor for the timing because I coudlnt’ really hear much from where I was sitting… I hope it was okay…=p

After the concert some friends from my class met up with me to take some pics and talk a bit…And I met my friend from Ipoh and his dad, who came down to watch the MPO and my music school’s concert…

I was really hungry after the concert so I went to take some food and water.. And before I knew it, it was time for the 6pm concert already…

Looking out from the curtain I saw my mom and dad and the group of people from my CF… Yeah, Wei Soon pretended to throw his shoe at me (from 20 meters away =p)

Same performance, except that I think it was slightly better, and the audience participated a bit more (in singing)… and of course, enough of the noise seemed to come from one corner where those rowdy CF fellas were…

Wow, after the concert they really bashed me up (Wei Soon especially). He was ‘smiting’ me, and complaning that I didn’t thank the CF for supporting me, and also they were threatening to steal the drumset… but in the end, they helped to carry the drums to the car… They were helpful larr..

THANK YOU SMK TAMAN SEA CF!!!

Okay, Wei Soon? Wei Soon did help, but he kept trying to drop the drum stands on my feet…and they kept shouting at me (jokingly). Only a few of them didn’t insult me like Chien Shin, Dewgem, Christine, Priscilla, some others, can’t remember, sorry!

So that’s it!

Oh yeah, I found a new use for Tama cymbal stands… There were these pieces of masking tape on the wall which we were trying to remove but couldn’t reach, as they were too high… So, the solution? Extend the cymbal stand as far as it can go and remove the tape using it! The cons? HEAVY!!!!! VERY HEAVY!!!

Too bad Shannon couldn’t make it, as he’s still having my cymbals…Grr… SHANNON WONG!!!!! He should have passed his booklet (required for admission) to someone else like Clarice, who called up in the afternoon asking whether she could get a booklet… too bad both of them didn’t make it..
