The Edge?

Well, fine, I gave in….
Even though I am really tired at the moment, I’ll still blog on the edge music conference.. You’ll only get it from my point of view…sorry =p Maybe I’ll ask some others who went to give a guest blog entry on their points of view or something…we’ll see…=)

The night before the conference, I was wondering how I could get transport to FGA the next day (Yeah, I signed up without knowing how I would get there wink Hey, we must have faith!!). So I thought, yeah, if I can’t find transport, I’ll just walk over to Clarice’s house the next morning and force her to take me there… But I did manage to find transport by means of a person named Yeap Ewe Jin (THANKS!!!)…so yeah, that problem was solved..

I could hardly wake up at all the next morning… I just kept pressing the snooze button when it rang… I set my alarm at 7.00am but when I finally got out of bed it was 8.15am, that means that I pressed the snooze button 16 times!! Haha… took breakfast and then waited for Ewe Jin… When he came I wondered whether I should do a ‘Soung Ern’ (that means make Ewe Jin wait for 1/2 an hour), but I decided not to do so, so we left for FGA at 8.45…

Registration was from 8.30 – 10.30, so we thought that we would reach FGA in good time…Unfortunately, the unexpected happened… First of all, heavy traffic, including traffic jams. Secondly, guess what happened? We missed FGA! Yup, we drove right past it without noticing. Result? A 30 minute detour..

Finally we reached the FGA building, and couldn’t find our way into the parking lot. We ended up circling the building for a few times (actually, building’s’) but finally managed to get into the parking lot and park.. We got out of the car, and Ewe Jin headed for this door labeled ‘keluar’, and opened it…………RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIING!!!!!! The security alarm was set off (luckily it was only for that particular door), that loud, shrieking noise..

We ran for it and finally got to the lifts, and we got off at the wrong floor! We found out that the registrations were in the other building, so we headed there, got our nametags, met up with Chris Chew and Tat Seng, and after a few probs with the group registration we went back over to the other building
and went up to level 5 for the main meeting… Won’t comment on the sound. After the meeting most of us (Me, Ewe Jin, Chris Leow, Tat Seng, Chris Chew) headed for the same workshop, that is, film/video. It was okay, got to see some really old video cams.. must be antiques..

Met up with Ruth for lunch, while Chris Chew and Tat Seng disappeared off… hmm…lunch burnt quite a large hole in my pocket, the simple sandwich cost RM6.50 =O. yeah, bought one of them… Some friends stopped by to say hello – Ewe Jin and Chris were especially irritating, like
“Hey, when did Hoong Ern start talking to girls?”….Bah, irritating =p

Took another film/video workshop after lunch, showed some 3d animation, some 3d advertistment of Energizer batteries..quite silly, funny… and the methods they used to do the stuff…

Final workshop of the day was a bit boring for me, it was ‘basic mantainance of sound systems’. Most of the stuff I already knew…

There was this EXPO on level 2, where some guys were selling their products..like keyboards, guitars, amps, bass guitars, drums, etc etc…

Oh yeah, some of us swapped nametags, so I was Ewe Jin, Ewe Jin was Ruth, and Ruth was Hoong Ern… haha, it caused some minor confusion (to both us and others), but on the whole it was quite fun. We also finished (almost) Ewe Jin’s skittles…

The night concert……was…………………

NOISY

. No more comments… And I was getting nauseated from the lights…

No problems getting to FGA on the second day, but we arrived the same time as on the first day, because we left half an hour later than the day before. Had the main session again..no comments on the sound, except about feedback and distortion…haha.. Pastor Glenn was really good, his testimony was really good.. quite a good inspiration to see what God has done in people’s lifes, his power and mercy…

Hmmm…what did I do on the second day? Oh yeah, 1st and 2nd workshop was ‘Turning your church into a concert hall’. Again my hopes were dashed, I knew almost all the stuff that was taught…I guess that the speaker had to cater for the majority of the crowd.

Wednesday’s food was not so bad, they sold rice, so I spent RM3.50 instead… saved me a lot of money. I had nasi lemak..and Chris got me a piece of fried chicken…

Hmm…last workshop was a disappointment also – Creating and Publishing Webpages… Didn’t learn anything..

The four of us, Ruth, Me, Ewe Jin and Chris went to Pearl Point for dinner, where me and Ewe Jin spent some money on 2 pairs of earplugs.. and we ate KFC for dinner. Chris was telling lame and ridiculous jokes on the way back to FGA. It was a wonder that Ewe Jin didn’t crash from laughing too much… thank God =)

Wednesday’s concert wasn’t as back because I had earplugs, and I put headphones on top of that… So I got about -35dB reduction, which was about just enough for comfortable listening.
