What was recorded – Acoustic Steel String Guitar and soprano-range vocals
Who was recorded – Ng Hwei Ling (Both guitar & vocal). Two songs and a vocal line for a backing track
Time – Morning through afternoon
Place – My bedroom
Equipment – Dell Inspiron 600m laptop with E-MU1616M audio interface, AKG C451B small-diaphragm condenser microphones – set up as an ORTF-pair (for guitar). Single AKG C451B was used for vocals (even though it is not a vocal microphone)
Format – Stereo WAV 24bit/48kHz
Project Size– 940MB
Two extra pillows, an array of blankets, towels and matresses were put up to absorb the sound of the room (which had a slightly ‘boxy’ sound to it). All windows and doors were shut and fans were turned off (resulting in sweltering heat).
Resulting sound was decent – although vocal had too much accuracy and detail to it. Would have been better with a vocal / large diaphragm microphone.
